Vihe was received by Interior Minster Vesna Györkös Žnidar, who stressed Slovenia was aware of the important role played by the UNHCR.
Speaking about the most problematic recent developments, the minister highlighted the situation in the Mediterranean, Africa and the Middle East. Slovenia will provide humanitarian aid funding this year as well, she pledged.
Vihe is very happy with the cooperation with Slovenian authorities and the pair highlighted as a recent important development the signing of an upgraded agreement on standards for prevention and action in sexual and gender violence. The agreement has also been signed by NGOs supporting refugees and vulnerable migrant groups.
After meeting the minister, the UNHCR delegation visited the Ljubljana Asylum Centre, where it met asylum seekers and attended a workshop that was underway.
