Net wages up almost 1% in October over September

But due to deflation, the monthly pay in real terms was also up in annual comparison, by 0.5%, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.

The average gross pay increased to EUR 1,540.58 in October, up 1.2% over September.

In the public sector, the average net pay in October was 0.7% higher than the month before and in the private sector the increase was 1.2%.

Compared to the average pay in October 2014, the wage was down by 0.2% in both sectors.

In October, the highest pay was recorded in electricity, gas and steam supply (EUR 1,404.31 net), followed by finance and insurance (EUR 1,393.58) and IT and communication (EUR 1,298.65).

The lowest net pay was recorded in the group of other various business activities (EUR 706.24)
