The Olympic Circle of Safety, as the bid has officially been dubbed, is organised as part of the traditional Circle of Friendship action, which has been an annual event in Bled since 1999.

With the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro approaching, the Olympic Committee of Slovenia is working with the Bled Tourist Board to present the Slovenian candidates for the Olympics. Also taking part in the event will be some of the Slovenian athletes who have competed at several previous Olympics.

All families, sports enthusiasts, local and foreign guests are also welcome to the event, which is expected to add to the holiday spirit in one of Slovenia's most popular tourist destinations.

Beginning at 3:30 pm, the programme of the event includes several concerts and Olympic-themed quizzes. Visitors will spread around Lake Bled at 5:00 pm.

Two Olympic torches will be lit at 5:45 pm and then carried by Slovenian athletes and Olympic medal-winners Brigita Bukovec and Jani Klemenčič around the lake.

At 7:15 pm, the Slovenian athletes for the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro will present themselves for the first time.

The organisers expect more than 4,000 local and foreign visitors to attend the event, aimed at breaking a record set in Indianapolis, USA, on 6 June 2015, when 3,712 people simultaneously lit glowsticks during the home opener of the WNBA's Indiana Fever season.
