The exhibition of phulkari, an embroidery technique from Punjab and Haryana, was mounted in cooperation with the Indian Embassy to celebrate India's Republic Day.

The display offers a glimpse into the colourful life and traditions of both regions and reflects the rich heritage of hand-made embroidery.

Addressing the opening, National Assembly Speaker Milan Brglez, described India as a country of a great contrast and diversity, which Slovenia could not match.

Nevertheless, he said that despite the "seemingly insurmountable differences, we are bound by similar values and goals, and we both share an understanding that cooperation is vital to face global challenges".

Running until 25 February, the display will be accompanied by lectures, films, a children's workshop, a concert of Indian music, a dance show and a photo exhibition.
