A lot of the conifer trees damaged in the storm were later attacked by the bark beetle, which poses a significant threat. Therefore, loggers focused primarily on conifers, clearing out some 70% of the damaged trees. On the other hand, only 37% of damaged deciduous trees have been removed.

Loggers in the western half of the country, which was the worst hit by the storm, still face lot of work, also due to bark beetle damage.

The Forest Institute assessed the ice storm damage at EUR 214m.
