Ljubljana children join worldwide peace project

Slovenian children wrote their wishes on paper doves and taped them as symbols of peace on a map of Slovenia, which will be sent to a museum in Ukraine. A similar map made by Ukrainian children will be sent to the Ljubljana City Museum.

The two maps will be kept in both museums until 4 June, International Day of Innocent Children - Victims of Aggression. The organisers of the project will put the maps of all 35 collaborating countries together in Ukraine's capital on the observance to show that even the youngest ones wish for peace around the world.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Slovenia Mykhailo F. Brodovych said that Ukrainian children recently bore witness to the atrocities of war, which no child should have to go through.

Andreja Rihter, the head of the Forum of Slavic Cultures, called for joining forces to give children a happy life and future.

The project is a joint effort of the Ukrainian and Hungarian embassies to Slovenia, the honorary consul of Hungary to Ukraine, and the non-profit organisation Carpathian Renaissance Foundation.
