Constitutional judges are appointed by the National Assembly for a nine-year term with absolute majority. Jadek Pensa was picked by Tuerk after he dismissed all six candidates who applied to his call for candidates in April.

This was the second call for applications for the post of a constitutional judge in the past months. In March, Tuerk nominated former Interior Minister Rado Bohinc, who was rejected by the National Assembly.

While the opposition Democrats (SDS) and People's Party (SLS) have not yet voiced their position regarding Jadek Pensa, all other parties have expressed support.

Tomorrow, the nomination is to be discussed by the parliamentary Commission for Public Office and Elections and put on the agenda of the next assembly session starting next week.

This is already the second time Jadek Pensa was picked for this post. In 2007, she was nominated by the then President Janez Drnovšek - also without applying for the post herself - but was rejected by the parliament.
