There are many obstacles to cross-border shopping, with small countries like Slovenian particularly affected by restrictions imposed by online retailers.

The main problems reported by consumers include Slovenia not being listed among the countries where goods can be delivered, expensive shipping fees and warranty problems.

The biggest problem when it comes to digital content is restrictions in broadcasting rights, in particular sports events, when foreign channels people pay for go dark for live events.

"The European Commission is drafting changes to a series of directives on the single market, but we cannot expect a quick revolution," BoĊĦtjan Okorn of the Consumer Association was quoted as saying in the organisation's press release.

The data is taken from Cross-border Online Shopping within the EU, a study released in late-2015 by the European consumer advocacy group ANEC.
