Slovenian Roglič wins Giro's stage in Chianti
Riding for Dutch team LottoNL, the 26-year old athlete finished the 40.5-kilometre stage around Chianti in 51:45 minutes, and ten seconds ahead of second-placed Mathias Brandle and 17 seconds ahead of third-placed Vegard Stake Laengen.
"I was somewhat slow and unhappy at the beginning but very fast later on... Everything that went down was surprising, very surprising," Roglič told the press after the race.
This is the third time in history that a Slovenian won a stage of the prestigious race. Luka Mezgec won a stage two years ago and Jan Polanc last year.
