The agreement to sell the 26-room Hotel Oleander in Strunjan was signed in April. One of the conditions set in the call for bids included continuing the hotel's tourism activities and retaining its seven employees, the mine operator said on Wednesday.

The regional daily Primorske novice has reported that Oleander Resort director Iztok Krumpak aims to expand the hotel's capacity by 50 to 60 beds.

Earlier this year, Premogovnik Velenje sold its Hotel Barbara on the Slovenian coast to hotel operator Eurotas for EUR 2.85m.

An agreement has also been signed with the Prva insurance group to sell the retirement home Zimzelen in the north-eastern town of Topolšica.

Under a restructuring plan launched in 2014, Premogovnik Velenje has been ordered to sell its non-core assets by its owner, power utility HSE, as it owed EUR 60m to HSE at the end of 2014 and generated a loss of EUR 33m in the same year.
