Sanja Štiglic new state secretary at Foreign Ministry

Štiglic, 46, is serving as director-general of the Directorate for Multilateral Affairs Development Cooperation and International Law, a post she was appointed to on 1 April. Before that she was the acting director-general of the directorate.

Between 2007 and 2012, Štiglic served as Slovenia's ambassador to the UN in New York and was elected president of UNICEF's executive board in 2011. Before that, she worked at the Slovenian mission to the UN already between 1997 and 2002.

She has held positions at the ministry from the start of her diplomatic career. Among other posts, Štiglic was under-secretary in 2003 and 2004 and advisor to the foreign minister in 1996 and 1997, said the government press release issued after the government session.

The other state secretary at the Foreign Ministry is Darja Bavdaž Kuret.
