Northern section of Ljubljana ring road best avoided during summer
The three-kilometre section between Celovška street and the Šiška industrial zone, which has not undergone any serious renovation since it was opened in 1983, is among the most heavily used in the country, seeing an average 70,000 vehicles each day.
National motorway company DARS said that it had picked the summer for the works, estimated to cost EUR 6.7m, since traffic decreases by up to 10% in this period. Still, congestions are expected, especially during rush hours.
During the period of the renovations works, cargo traffic will be redirected to the southern and eastern ring road sections and drivers are also advised to avoid the section under renovation.
