Cerar praised the new jobs being generated by the company and the EUR 23m in investments announced for the coming three years.

Odelo Slovenija, a subsidiary of Germany-seated Odelo which was acquired by Bayraktarlar in 2011, employs over 900 people in Prebold near Celje.

It has now completed a EUR 1.2m investment in Črešnjevci in the NE region of Pomurje, where it had acquired a production facility of bankrupt clothing maker Mura.

Cerar, who will moreover lay the foundation stone for another Odelo hall in the afternoon in Prebold, said he was happy about the good economic cooperation between Slovenia and Turkey.

"As regards the situation in Turkey, it needs to be stressed that we all wish for it to stabilise as soon as possible, for the prevailing of democratic constitutional order and the rule of law, as this is good for the people, the economy, welfare and above all for mutual relations."

Senior Odelo representative Ahmet Bayraktar pointed out the group had invested more than EUR 83m in Slovenia the last five years. It doubled sales revenue to EUR 130m and plans a further increase to EUR 200m in the coming three years.

Bayraktar, who also expects the workforce to expand to over 1,300, added the team in Slovenia as well as the Slovenian government had played an important role in Odelo's efforts.
