Slovenia ranks 144th among 149 countries included in the survey with an index of 4.06 points, up 0.65 points over 2015 in what is one of the sharpest deteriorations among the low-risk countries. Last year, it placed 149th among 152 countries.

Only Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Bulgaria and New Zealand are considered as having a lower risk of money laundering, according to the rankings published by the Basel Institute on Governance.

The index measures the risk of money laundering and terrorist financing based on publicly available sources. The score is collated from 14 indicators that measure regulation, corruption, financial standards, political disclosure, and rule of law.
