Ljubljana's public orchard vandalised
The incident, which took place in the night to Monday, was condemned in the strongest terms by the Ljubljana city, which said that the unknown perpetrators had hurt everyone, including themselves.
Ljubljana's first public orchard was opened late last year in the southwest of the city featuring apple, pear, plum, walnut and chestnut trees as well as warmer climate fruit trees such as persimmon and mulberry.
The vandals destroyed trees that were planted for everyone. They had basically harmed themselves, the municipality of Ljubljana pointed out.
Because of the damage done to the trees, it will take two more years for the trees to start bearing fruit.
Condemning vandalism, the municipality again appealed to the residents to respect public property and help to keep their city safe, clean, and beautiful.
