As part of European Mobility Week, which is to take place between 16 and 22 September, the Municipality of Ljubljana has made made several eco-friendly improvements in the city, such as setting up new charging stations for electric vehicles and expanding the Bicikelj bicycle rental system.

Ljubljana's public transport company, LPP, invites citizens to take a free ride with Urban, the zero-emission tourist train, and with new on-call electric vehicles, Eurban.

Sustainability-themed field trips will be organised every weekend by the LPP's mountaineering and cycling clubs. Meanwhile, the Ljubljana tourism board will organise jogs through the city and sustainability-themed cycling trips. Visitors will also be able to attend a free bicycle-repair workshop which is planned to take place in front of City Hall.

Other events will include a sustainability-themed photography expedition and presentations of eco-friendly vehicles. A programme for children will be carried out in schools throughout Ljubljana.

A campaign, co-organised by Ljubljana and Dutch beer giant Heineken, will promote cycling as an everyday form of mobility and contribute to Ljubljana's cycling infrastructure.

During World Car Free Day on 22 September, motor traffic will be limited on roads in all 17 city districts and riding city buses will be free of charge.

At the end of September, Ljubljana will host the 16th Festival of the Third Age with workshops and other activities for the elderly.
