Slovenian Philharmonics staring new season in China

The Philharmonics will be conducted by British conductor James Judd.

At the organisers' proposal, their performance will present the honorary members of the Accademia Philharmonicorum, the predecessor of the Slovenian Philharmonic, from its 315-year-old history.

Thus, the concert will include pieces by Hayden, Beethoven and Brahms.

The orchestra's link to China is Tan Dun, one of the most acclaimed contemporary composers, who performed with the Slovenian musicians in the last two seasons, including at the opening of last year's Festival Ljubljana.

Due to the China tour, the new season in Ljubljana will start with performances by the Zagreb Philharmonics on 15 and 16 September.
