England were marginally the better team in the first half, but Slovenia were much closer to scoring.

In the 10th minute Roman Bezjak intercepted a poor pass to Hart, but the striker found himself denied by the English goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation. What is more, in a follow-up effort by Jasmin Kurtić, England were saved by the woodwork.

Hart unexpectedly remained in the focus in the opening minutes of the second half with two major saves. One saw him fishing out a corner kick that some already saw crossing the goal line.

Slovenia kept pushing and had a few more chances, but England also found their game, especially after Slovenia's captain, defender Boštjan Cesar was out with injury in the 68th minute. Jesse Lingard came closest to scoring in the 82nd, but Slovenia's star goalkeeper Jan Oblak would not have it.

The draw keeps England at the top of Group F with seven points, while Slovenia are now second with five points.
