Exhibition raises awareness about importance of bees
The exhibition Bees' World features a dome made of hexagonal elements representing a honeycomb and providing interactive content about bees and beekeeping.
Visitors can use virtual glasses to watch films about bees and beekeeping in Slovenia, while also on display are photographs of bees.
The exhibition was opened by Agriculture Minister Dejan Židan, who pointed in his address to the importance of bees.
"In the last 50 years the production of food which depends on pollination by bees and other pollinators has increased four-fold," he said.
The project is part of Slovenia's bid to declare 20 May World Honeybee Day, which Židan believes will be successful.
The bid was recently endorsed by all member states of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO). Slovenia expects that World Honeybee Day could be celebrated for the first time in 2018.
