The Slovenia corner at the 68th Frankfurt Book Fair will feature the best of latest production in the country and translations of foreign books.

The stall will also host for the seventh year running the Traduki international network which encourages exchange among SE Europe, Germany and Switzerland.

The official Slovenian reception is scheduled for Wednesday, when Culture Minister Tone Peršak will be on hand, the Slovenian Book Agency announced.

The minister is to meet the head of the programme of this year's honorary guest in Frankfurt, the Netherlands and Flanders, as well as the fair's director Jürgen Boos, to exchange expectations regarding Slovenia's wish to become the guest of honour.

Slovenia has been striving for the status for several years and stepped up its efforts last year with programmes furthering exchange, translations, and promotion of Slovenian literature abroad. The Book Agency announced a larger Slovenian stall at the Frankfurt fair for 2017.

Last year the agency handed to Boos a programme of Slovenia's candidacy and received a favourable response from the fair's leadership, which will visit Slovenia at the beginning of next year.
