Despite the long ride from Canada, Štuhec was excited to be welcomed by fans. "It is really special to see so many people here. Although we've been on the way for quite a long time, because we headed home straight after yesterday's race, it is worth it."

She and her team opened a bottle of champagne on stage and toasted to new victories.

She was also congratulated by Maribor Mayor Andrej Fištravec.

Landing in Zagreb's airport, the new Slovenia's champion told reporters that her first victory, in downhill on Friday, was followed by an euphoria.

"I envisaged a good ride although it was not perfect, neither on Friday nor on Saturday, but when I came across the finish line it was awesome," she said.

Preparations for Saturday's race were more difficult. "It was chaotic. I had to calm down, collect my thoughts and get ready for a new day," she said.

She said she was also happy with the fifth place in super G on Sunday, her second best achievement in the discipline.

Winning two World Cup races in a row is an achievement that so far only one other Slovenian skier, the legendary Mateja Svet, boasts.
