Morning lows will be between three and nine degrees below zero, around freezing on the coast, and daytime highs between -2 and 4 degrees Celsius, up to 8 in the western region of Primorsko.

The Environment Agency has issued an alert due to strong winds at the foot of the Karavanke mountain range in the north and the Posočje region in the west, gusting at up to 70 kilometres an hour.

A strong bora wind with gusts of up to 100 kilometres an hour is expected in the area of Ilirska Bistrica in the south-west and in some other parts of Primorsko.

The bora will subside on Friday, although northerly winds will remain strong elsewhere. Despite some sun, it will be bitterly cold with daytime highs inland mostly below freezing.
