Golden Fox: Mikaela Shiffrin of the US wins World Cup slalom
Both Slovenians competing in the finals finished in the top ten. Ana Bucik was seventh and Ilka Štuhec tenth.
This is the best World Cup result for Bucik and the best result in slalom for Štuhec.
Bucik said she was happy that she managed to stage a solid performance in front of the home crowd Maribor. "Today I tried to stay calm, I tried not to think about how's first, second and how others did and just wanted to show what I can do and stay relaxed."
She said she was looking forward to the next meet in a couple of days in Austria's Flachau.
Štuhec was also happy with her performance, calling it "not ideal but still ok". She also enjoyed the atmosphere at the meet.
"These good runs, good results are boosting my confidence and I hope it will stay this way in the future," she said.
Shiffrin, who currently tops the overall World Cup and the slalom standings, was in the lead already in the first run, while Holdener and Hansdotter were second and third, respectively.
Shiffrin was not stopped by a broken gate which slid in front of her skis and managed to stay in the lead in the finals. "It means a lot to me," she said.
After finishing fourth at yesterday's giant slalom race, Shiffrin became the overall winner of this year's Golden Fox meet after winning it also in 2015.
