But without diminishing the role of the government, it must also be said that the situation in the car industry is favourable for such investment and that the main credit goes to Magna after all.

The paper is also happy to see the government PR service using the news to score political points. "This gives me optimism. If news like this brings election points and such topics come up in pre-election debates next year, the Slovenian business environment will become friendlier to businesses."

If politicians start "winning the hearts of voters" with greenfield investments instead of "cheap tricks" like the return of the 2 January holiday and bringing out old grudges, Slovenia is in for better days, the paper says in "Magna: When Strategic Investment Gets New Meaning".
