The match was all but decided already in the fist half, with Slovenia leading 15:8 in the 27th minute.

Slovenia distributed the scoring load among players, with no player scoring more than four goals, while Macedonia saw its best player Kiril Lazarov score almost half of the team's goals (9).

Slovenia will play Tunisia on Tuesday and Spain on Thursday to wrap up the play in the qualifying group B.

The first four teams from the six-team group advance to the round of 16, where Slovenia will play a team from group A featuring France, Poland, Russia, Brazil, Japan and Norway.

This is the eighth appearance for Slovenia at world championships, with their best result coming in Spain in 2013, when they qualified for the semi-finals and finished fourth.
