Investments in capital assets meanwhile increased by almost 50% last year to EUR 26.8m, according to a report by Telekom Austria, which owns Simobil.

As the second biggest mobile operator in Slovenia, the company had 714,300 subscribers for cellular services at the end of 2016, which is 0.8% more than a year before.

In its broadband internet, IP phone and television services division, which it acquired with internet provider Amis in 2015, Simobil had 172,000 subscribers, an annual increase of 16.5%.

The mobile operator announced in November it would adopt the brand name of its parent company Telekom Austria, A1, in 2017.
