Green light for AIK's takeover of Gorenjska banka

Nekategorizirano

AIK Banka, which currently owns 19.4% of Gorenjska banka, plans to buy a majority stake from a consortium headed by financial holding Sava, the bank's largest single shareholder.

Sava has been selling its stake in Gorenjska banka since 2015 and formed the consortium in mid-2016.

AIK Banka entered ownership of Gorenjska banka with a EUR 12.37m capital injection in January 2016, acquiring a 13.9% stake and becoming the second-biggest owner.

Effectively, AIK Banka already has the biggest say at Gorenjska banka shareholder meetings as Sava has been stripped of its voting rights after it went into court-mandated debt restructuring.

AIK Banka has been claiming all along that Gorenjska banka was a strategic investment, and expressed interest in raising its 19.4% stake already in November.

Other holders of notable stakes in Gorenjska banka include the state-owned Bank Asset Management Company, insurer Zavarovalnica Triglav, Sparkasse bank, Erste Group Bank, telecommunications equipment provider Iskratel, telco Telekom Slovenije and electric motors maker Domel.
