Growth continues this year, as the Slovenian port broke the monthly transshipment record with 2.2 million tonnes of total cargo in February.

Among the ports of the North Adriatic Ports Association (NAPA), Koper was followed by Italy's Venice with just below 606,000 container units, Italy's Trieste with some 486,000 units and Croatia's Rijeka with around 214,000 units.

According to reports published on the website of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, the port of Koper, which took over the presidency of NAPA this week, is also among the three busiest ports in the Mediterranean in car transshipment and the most important port for the Austrian economy.

The port also had the highest EBITDA margin (37.6%) and the third highest return on equity (10.5%) among the ports covered in the reports in 2015, which is the latest year for which data for other ports is available.
