Štuhec already owns the small crystal globe in the Apline combined and has a chance to win the small crystal globe in the super-G competition on Wednesday, also in Aspen.

The 26-year-old from Maribor today became just the seventh female Alpine skier in history to win the downhill race at the world championships and the small World Cup globe for downhill in the same year.

Before today's race, Štuhec's worst result in the eight downhill races of the season was eighth place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. She won the first three races, two in Lake Louis and one in Val d'Isere.

Štuhec has also become the sixth Slovenian Alpine skier to win a small crystal globe after Tina Maze, Špela Pretnar, Rok Petrovič, Bojan Križaj and Mateja Svet. Maze is the only Slovenian with the overall World Cup victory, which she secured in the 2012/13 season.
