The project, initiated by the association for the protection of Slovenian iron industry heritage, focuses on intangible cultural heritage of Labour Day celebrations.

The exhibitions will present local celebrations that gave wings to musical, literary, artistic and dramatic activities in the industrial towns of Idrija, Jesenice, Ravne na Koroškem, Štore, Trbovlje and Velenje.

An indispensable part of Labour Day celebrations was also wind orchestras, bonfires and workers' parties.

The exhibition organised by the Ravne na Koroškem Museum will open this afternoon at the town's old ironworks, while the exhibitions at the Štore and Idrija museums opened already on 20 April.

The museums in Trbovlje and Jesenice will welcome visitors on Tuesday, while the Velenje Museum and its Museum of Coal Industry will join the project on 1 and 9 May, respectively.

The exhibitions will be accompanied by a comprehensive catalogue on the history of the holiday observed on 1 May.
