Both ministers agreed that Slovenia and Cape Verde have established good and friendly relations, in the last years especially marked by the successful project of development aid to this West African country, the Foreign Ministry said.

Erjavec expressed the wish for an improvement of economic cooperation between the countries in the next few years, especially in the areas of water management and sustainable development. The two countries also want to further strengthen the cooperation in tourism and culture.

Minister Tavares affirmed that Cape Verde will continue to support Slovenia on the regional and multilateral level as part of the UN, African Union and Economic Community Of Western African States (ECOWAS).

The Cape Verde minister also visited the Slovenian Deputy Parliamentary Speaker Primož Hainz. Tavares thanked Slovenia in the name of Cape Verde citizens for Slovenian help with the Telemedicine Project, which brought quality and accessible healthcare to all of the populated Cape Verde islands.
