Slovenia tourist arrivals up 7% in Q1

Domestic tourists generated 296,000 arrivals and 859,000 overnight stays, which is 7% more arrivals and 4% more overnight stays than in the same time last year. Foreign tourists generated 444,000 arrivals and more than 1 million overnight stays, up 7% and 5%.

Tourists from Austria and Croatia generated 3% and 7% more overnight stays than in the first three months of 2016, while tourists from Italy and Germany, key source markets, generated 7% and 6% less overnight stays.

Almost three-quarters of overnight stays were generated in hotels, 6% in apartments, 5% in company vacation facilities and vacation facilities for youth, and 4% each in camping sites and private accommodations.

More than 709,000 of all overnight stays were generated in health or spa resorts, followed by mountain resorts (498,000), seaside resorts (253,000) and Ljubljana Municipality (201,000).
