Circular economy conference opening in Ljubljana and Maribor
Programme director Ladeja Godina Košir has announced that the conference could produce sustainable solutions, noting that Slovenia had the right size and sufficient social cohesiveness to become a pilot country for a thorough circular transition.
The second Circular Change Conference, organised by the namesake stakeholder engagement platform, is sponsored by Prime Minister Borut Pahor, who will address the participants on the conclusion of the second day.
The conference will debate three key aspects of the circular economy - systemic (regulatory), economic (transformation of business models into circular models) and cultural (restoration of values).
Besides Cerar, government representatives at the conference will include Tadej Slapnik, a state secretary in the prime minister's office, Environment and Spatial Planning Minister Irena Majcen and Education, Science and Sport Minister Maja Makovec Brenčič.
Notable international political representatives include Italian Ambassador Paolo Trichilo and Dutch Ambassador Erik Van Uum.
The conference will also feature representatives of the government and non-government sectors and business from the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, Slovakia and other countries.
The banking sector will be represented by members of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo.
