The FIS Calendar Conference, taking place every two years, is held at Grand Hotel Bernardin and features more than 90 meetings of FIS technical committees and sub-committees, which adopt rules and reports on all skiing disciplines.

In addition to debates on the future of skiing, the conference is also an opportunity for meetings and talks between delegates of individual countries on new approaches and improvements in sport, the Ski Association of Slovenia (SZS) said in a press release.

Last evening, the association organised a Slovenian night at Portorož beach, presenting to conference guests, in cooperation with the organisers of World Cup events in Slovenia and the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO), local food, drink and music.

"We are aware that this is an important event as part of FIS, where we are recognised as one of more active members. Since we are hosting the conference, it is right to gather our skiing friends for at least one evening and present them the hospitality and possibilities offered by Slovenia," SZS boss Enzo Smrekar said ahead of the conference.

On the last day of the conference, the FIS presidency will meet to confirm all changes and decisions made by individual committees and sub-committees, as well as the calendar of World Cup events for the next season.

Among other things, FIS representatives will also determine the host of the FIS congress for 2020 and adopt reports on the progress made by organisers of future FIS world championships.
