The two ministers signed the papers after a meeting of the Slovenian-Israeli committee on cooperation in science and technology, says the website of the Ministry of Education. According to the ministry, the initiative for the meeting came from Israel, which wants to revive the cooperation.

Slovenian and Israeli institutions cooperate in various fields, mostly in ICT, medicine, environment and biotechnology.

Makovec Brenčič also attended the second Slovenian-Israeli day of science, where researchers from fields "identified as priorities for reviving cooperation in science" met.

Addressing the event, the minister highlighted the importance of the meeting for future cooperation of researchers from the two countries and the importance of enhancing entrepreneurial spirit in science and the application of knowledge and technology to practice.

Also on the agenda was Slovenia's smart specialisation strategy and its performance in EU programmes.

During the official visit, Makovec Brenčič and Slovenia's Ambassador to Israel Barbara Sušnik laid a wreath at Yad Vashem, Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.

The minister also visited the Slovenian office in Ramallah, where she met Palestinian Education Minister Sabir Saidam.
