FlixBus, which entered the Slovenian market a year ago, will open two new routes on Thursday, to Vienna and Bratislava, the company told the press on Tuesday.

"Together with Avrigo, we are opening a new hub," said Dean Čebohin, the director of business development for Central and Eastern Europe at FlixBus.

Since the company entered the market last year, it has set up direct lines from seven Slovenian destinations to 60 destinations in eight European countries and transported more than 200,000 Slovenian passengers.

In addition to the new direct lines to Austria and Slovakia, FlixBus has also increased the number of daily lines from Slovenia, especially to Germany, Austria and Croatia.

Meanwhile, Avrigo head Sandi Brataševec told the press on Tuesday that the two companies wanted to optimise road passenger transport and reduce the footprint on the environment despite increasing the number of passengers.

FlixBus, established in 2013, gave rides to 60 million people by the end of 2016 and hopes to bring the number to 100 million by the end of this year.
