In Bled, about 90% of hotels are booked for the summer and more bookings are expected this week, Turizem Bled told the STA. This exceeds last year's dynamics.

At the end of last week, 80-90% of all capacities in the town known for its lake with a picturesque island and a castle overlooking the lake, were booked. In July, August and September, hotels are expected to be 95-100% booked.

About 95% of the guests come from abroad, most notably from the UK, Germany, Austria, Italy, the US, Belgium, the Netherlands, Malta, the Czech Republic, Japan, South Korea and other Asian countries.

The neighbouring resort of Bohinj is not far behind. "In April, almost 70% more overnight stays was recorded year-on-year and in May last year's figures were exceed by at least 15%," the head of Turizem Bohinj, Klemen Langus, told the STA.

The outlook for the summer is also very good for hotels as well as other facilities, he added.

He expects this summer season to be at least as successful as last year's, but if the weather conditions are favourable even better results are expected.

Last year, the number of overnight stays was up by 17% year-on-year. But the problem remains the winter season, as due to bad weather and a lack of snow 15% less overnight stays were generated.

This was compensated for in the past few months, so Langus expects at least 5% growth at the annual level. Bohinj recorded almost half a million overnight stays for the first time last year.

Blaž Veber of Turizem Kranjska Gora is also upbeat about the summer in the Alpine ski resort. Projections and bookings by almost mid-September show that the season will be very successful, he told the STA.

"Provided there'll be no weather-related problems, because we are also somewhat dependant on daily visitors and weekend guests, we are in for a very good season," he said.

The summer season in Kranjska Gora starts at the end of April with a series of events that attract visitors to stretch the season beyond just July and August. The results for this April, May and June are good, above plans, Veber said.

He added that Kranjska Gora was no longer entirely dependant on the winter season and was organising various sports events at the end of August and early September as well.
