Garnbret missed gold in bouldering by a whisker. She was outdone in a single move by Serbia's Staša Geja in the super final after the pair finished the finals tied.

The silver was enough for the 18-year-old Slovenian climber to win her first European championship in the combined after finishing fourth at the European Lead Championship in Italy's Campitello in early July.

Slovenia also takes part of the credit for Staša Gejo's success, considering that the Niš-born climber has been living and studying in Slovenia's Maribor and for the past three years training together with Garnbret under the guide of Slovenia's head coach Gorazd Hren.

Meanwhile, Anže Peharc, won bronze in the bouldering competition to increase Slovenia's medal tally at European sport climbing championships to twenty. Garnbret has secured three, along with lead silver from Chamonix two years ago, while Slovenia's most successful sports climber Mina Markovič contributed seven.
