Ljubljana's first five-star hotel opening doors

The 20-storey hotel, boasting among other features a 155 square metre presidential suite, will be inaugurated at the end of September, said hotel general manager Miloš Cerović.

According to him, the hotel is to attract more high-end visitors to Ljubljana, where tourism is on the rise.

The construction of the hotel near the Ljubljana Stock Exchange began in December 2015.

The investor is Serbian Delta Holding, which allocated 40 million euro for the project, about 250,000 per room. The construction was carried out by the Novo mesto-based builder CGP.

The hotel, spanning over 23,000 square metres, has 165 rooms, a swimming pool, wellness centre, and a Michelin star chef-run restaurant of an open type accommodating around 200 guests on the top floor.

While Slovenia has several five-star hotels, including Kempinski Palace in Portorož and Grand Hotel Toplice in Bled, this is the first hotel of its kind in the Slovenian capital.

Most of the 115 staff will come from Slovenia, while it will also include managers from other Intercontinental hotels.
