Slovenia to co-host 2019 European Volleyball Championships
The historic decision for Slovenia was made by head of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) Aleksandar Boričić at a congress in Poland's Krakow on Friday.
The first time multiple countries hosted the championships was 12 years ago, when Italy and Serbia and Montenegro joined forces to host the 2005 EuroVolley. In 2011, the championships were hosted by Austria and the Czech Republic.
The 2019 championships are scheduled between 13 and 29 September. Slovenia has already announced that the Slovenian portion of the event will take place in the capital Ljubljana, in Stožice Arena.
The other three host countries are to announce their decision on the location by the end of this year.
This will be the third European championship in major team sports to be held in Slovenia, after handball in 2004 and basketball in 2013.
