Slovenia, which have been one of the most convincing teams at the tournament, winning all of their five preliminary round matches, allowed no surprise, building a comfortable lead already in the opening minutes.

It was teenage prodigy Luka Dončić who did most of the work, scoring 10 of his final 14 points the first quarter.

Anthony Randolph, the former American NBA player on the Slovenian team, picked up from there, upgrading his strong defence performances in the past games with a 21 point tally that made him the top scorer of the game.

Dončnič spoke "of a more difficult game than it may have looked".

"It was a tough game, we started well in the defence, which is very important. We played a good game," the 18-year-old said, adding it did not matter who Slovenia's quarter-final opponent will be.

The sixth consecutive win gives Slovenia their longest winning streak at EuroBaskets. It brought the team its eight quarter-finals berth at the last ten major tournaments - seven EuroBaskets and three World Championships.
