Both sides agreed at the session that there is a progress in bilateral trade in agricultural and food products.

The session also discussed possibilities for cooperation in technology exchange and research. The Chinese side proposed direct dialogue between expert institutions and exchange of experts, and cooperation in research related to beekeeping and honey production.

A proposal was also tabled for cooperation in research related to food production procedures such as freezing, preservation and dehydration. Cooperation in research and sustainable management of karst areas and resources will continue, the Slovenian Agriculture Ministry said in a press release.

The task force also agreed to establish regular cooperation between the Ljubljana Faculty of Biotechnology and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences as part of European research and educational programmes. A two-year action plan will be adopted as a basis to determine priorities and objectives of cooperation.

Strniša also met Vice-Minister of Agriculture Qu Dongyu as part of the visit, with the officials noting the good cooperation between the countries' agriculture ministries.

The state secretary also visited the China Food and Drug Administration, where she discussed the conditions which Slovenian food supplements, primarily honey and honey products, need to meet to be sold on the Chinese market.

Strniša attended in Beijing the opening of the 15th China Agricultural Trade Fair, one of the biggest fairs in the field in the world. She was greeted by Slovenian winemakers who are presenting themselves to the Chinese market.
