The representatives of the CAAC "responded positively to the initiative to launch scheduled flights between the two countries and provided the assurance that there were no reservations," the Infrastructure Ministry said in a press release on Friday.

Leben presented the development potential of the Edvard Rusjan Airport in Maribor, which is managed by a Chinese firm.

CAAC representatives welcomed Slovenia's activities targeted at the expansion of civil aviation in Slovenia and said they would offer technical assistance and support if needed.

The talks come four months after Infrastructure Minister Peter Gašperšič was in China to discuss the expansion of air and sea links.

The state secretary also met the representatives of the National Development and Reform Commission.
