Terfel will now be able to treat his girlfriend to a weekend getaway in Cerkno, complete with jacuzzi and skiing, having won a voucher for two from the operator of the Postojna Cave.

The award, which also included a glass cave olm, the emblem of the Postojna Cave, was presented to Terfel by the operator's director Marjan Batagelj.

According to a press release from the company, the winner was quite surprised that his trip to Slovenia turned out to be quite so memorable and was happy to have an excuse to come back again and try to learn to ski.

The visitors coming after and before the 38 millionth won consolation prizes - a bobbin lace in the shape of the blind salamander and a book on Potojna Cave. All three signed a golden book of guests, a record of most important visitors for the past 200 years.

The Postojna Cave, along with its Vivarium, Expo and the Predjama Castle, have attracted some 1.14 million visitors this year, about 14% more than in the same period last year.

By the end of the year, the number is expected to top 1.2 million.
