Slovenia's merchandise trade keeps increasing

According to the Statistics Office, the deficit can be explained by somewhat higher imports from EU member states. The export-import ratio was 99.9%.

Slovenia generated 77.7% of its imports and 81% of exports in trade with EU member states. Exports to these countries rose by 19.1% year-on-year to EUR 2.001bn and imports increased by 16.1% to EUR 2.089bn.

Exports to non-member countries rose by 6.9% to EUR 574.8m and imports were up by 9.7% to EUR 489m.

Between January and November 2017, Slovenia's exports rose by 13.5% to EUR 26.066bn and imports went up by 14.4% to EUR 25.289bn with the surplus at EUR 776.6m and the export-import ratio at 103.1%.
