Slovenia focusing on cultural tourism at ITB Berlin
Thirty companies and providers will present themselves under the auspices of the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO).
Slovenian tourism is well represented at the Berlin fair every year, and last year Slovenia was a partner country in the category convention and culture, which took care of additional promotion.
This year Slovenia will present its culture, which will be the main topic of promotional activities in the next two years for the STO.
"We want to present Slovenia as a boutique green, active and healthy destination for demanding guests, as one of our goals is to increase the spending by German guests," director Maja Pak has told the STA.
The presentation at the Slovenian stall will be accompanied by a programme prepared by the main partners, the Association of Historical Cities of Slovenia and the Postojna Cave Park.
The visitors will be presented the beauty and tradition of the oldest and most picturesque historical cities in Slovenia, as well as the Predjama Castle near the world-famous Postojna Cave.
A Slovenian evening will also be held for selected representatives of the German business and tourism public. "Slovenia will be presented as an interesting gastronomic destination," said Pak.
This year, the Global Top 100 Sustainable Destinations Awards will be conferred tor the first time at the fair, with Slovenia fielding two finalists among 32 competitors - the capital of Ljubljana and the spa town of Podčetrtek.
Germany is an important market for Slovenia, with a 12% share in terms of the number of overnight stays. Last year the number of overnight stays by German guests was up by a record 25% to an absolute yearly record of 960,000.
