New national system of support to businesses launched

"We want the support system to be even more efficient," Economy Ministry State Secretary Aleš Cantarutti told the press in Maribor on Wednesday.

Spot is a joint project of the Economy Ministry, the Public Administration Ministry and the SPIRIT agency for entrepreneurship, internationalization, foreign investment and technology.

It will offer a one-stop shop, where entrepreneurs and those about to open their business will be informed about new on-line services and about ways to improve their competitiveness or go international.

The system operates on four levels. The first level is the spot.gov.si portal, where users get information about and access to digital business services.

The next level are the renovated e-VEM points, where users can register their company and conduct various other procedures with the help of an assistant.

According to Public Administration Minister Boris Koprivnikar, the idea was to automatise as many procedures as possible and to cut red tape.

But the biggest shift was made on the third level, where a dozen regional offices will be set up to offer entrepreneurs professional assistance, workshops and training, and help promote entrepreneurship regionally and locally.

The final stop is Spot Global, offering assistance to exporters and Slovenian and foreign investors.

The EUR 35.8m project is financed by the state and the European Fund for Regional Development. In the first year, the system will be in a test phase and will be constantly upgraded.

"We're working together and want to automatise as many things that can be automatised, while doing the things that need to be done personally in a professional way and in one place ..." said Koprivnikar.
