Exports in February up by 11.5% year-on-year

A surplus of EUR 42.7m was made in trade in goods in February for an exports-to-imports ratio of 101.8%.

Surpluses in trade in February are a rarity, the Statistics Office said. In addition to this year they were recorded only in 2016 and 2017 in the last ten years.

Exports to EU member states represented 77.5% of total exports, while imports from these countries represented 79.5% of total imports.

Slovenian companies exported EUR 1.8bn in goods to EU countries in February (up 10% year-on-year), while importing EUR 1.8bn (up 7.3%). Slovenia recorded a EUR 15.5m deficit in trade with these countries.

Exports to non-EU countries in February amounted to EUR 0.5bn (up 16.9% year-on-year), while imports stood at EUR 0.5bn as well (up 21.1%).

Slovenia recorded a trade surplus with these countries every month since February 2015 except in August 2017 and January 2018.

In the first two months of the year, exports were up by 11.7% to EUR 4.7bn, while imports increased by 11.1% to EUR 4.7bn.
