The campaign is getting under way on Tuesday in Hamburg, and will move to Düsseldorf, Berlin and Munich in the next few days, where receptions will be held for tour operators and travel agents as well as businesses and media, the STO said in a press release.

At the end of March and April, Adria Airways introduced direct links between Ljubljana and Hamburg and Ljubljana and Düsseldorf, respectively.

Easyjet is planning to launch a Ljubljana-Berlin route in August, whereas VLM Airlines has flown between Slovenia's Maribor, and Antwerp and Munich since February.

Germany is one of the most important markets for Slovenian tourism, as Germans traditionally place among the top three in terms of arrivals and nights, STO director Maja Pak was quoted as saying. She added that the new direct routes were an important step towards making Slovenia more accessible.

The events will be organised together with partners from the Slovenian tourist industry, each focussing on different aspects of what the country can offer to tourists.
