S&P upgrades Slovenia outlook to positive
Announcing the revision of the outlook conducted on Friday, the Finance Ministry welcomed the news as "another in a series of confirmations that Slovenia is on the right track".
The ministry reiterated that Slovenia had not yet completed the process of fiscal consolidation: "The resilience that would mitigate the negative effects of a future crisis, which is very important for Slovenia as an export economy, has not yet been strengthened to a sufficient extent."
The ministry's release quoted outgoing Minister Mateja Vraničar Erman as saying that Slovenia "should not repeat past mistakes, or else we will have to take difficult decisions in a few years. I would like us to avoid that and to create sufficient reserves in good times to mitigate negative effects of a next crisis".
